OSI/AS and OSI/TS Supplement (Includes RFC-1006 Support)

Configuring OSI/TS
RFC-1006 Subsystem Configuration

TSP Process in Client Role
NSPDEVICE is required and must specify TCP/IP1. REMOTENSAP is required and
specifies the remote IP address on the server side of the connection. LOCALNSAP is
optional. If you don’t specify it, TCP/IP uses its routing table to determine which
local IP address or subnet to use and will use whatever subnet is available.
Examples 1 and 2 associate the SUs with the local TCP/IP process and the remote IP
addresses.
Example 1:
#lan1a with TCP/IP1 and with IPAddress3
#lan1b with TCP/IP1 and with IPAddress4
#lan1c with TCP/IP1 and with IPAddress3
Example 2:
#lan2a with TCP/IP1 and with IPAddress4
#lan2b with TCP/IP1 and with IPAddress4
#lan2c with TCP/IP1 and with IPAddress4
TSP Process in Server Role
NSPDEVICE is required and must specify TCP/IP2. REMOTENSAP is ignored.
LOCALNSAP is required and specifies the local IP address on the server side of the
connection.
Examples 1 and 2 associate the SUs with the local TCP/IP process and the local IP
addresses.
Example 1:
#lan3a with TCP/IP2 and with IPAddress3
#lan3b with TCP/IP2 and with IPAddress3
#lan3c with TCP/IP2 and with IPAddress3
Example 2:
#lan4a with TCP/IP2 and with IPAddress4
#lan4b with TCP/IP2 and with IPAddress4
#lan4c with TCP/IP2 and with IPAddress4
In the server role, when there is more than one TSP process, once an IP address has
been assigned to any SU on a particular TSP server, other TSP servers cannot use the
same IP address. This is a restriction due to the listener role that the TSP process
performs. In this example if the SUs on TSP3 (#lan3a, #lan3b, and #lan3c) specify
IPAddress3, the SUs on TSP4 (#lan4a, #lan4b, and #lan4c) would then all have to be
assigned to the other local IP address.
New OSI/TS Startup
PARAMs for RFC-1006
The PARAM command is used to set process and service values that are used when
OSI/TS is started. The parameters set for a particular TSP process are in effect for all
the applications using that TSP process. A list of the PARAM parameters that OSI/TS
supports can be found in the Tandem OSI/TS Manual. When using RFC-1006, the LAN-
related PARAMs no longer apply. For RFC-1006, there are two new parameters.
