Other Useful Manuals
Other Useful Manuals
In addition to Section 2, Management Environment (which contains information to help
you install and configure your OSI/AS subsystem), other Compaq manuals can be useful
to you during various stages of installation. The following list includes the most
important ones:
•
The OSI/AS SCF Reference Manual provides detailed and complete syntax
descriptions of the SCF commands used to configure and control most of the
components of your subsystem.
•
The Event Management Service (EMS) Manual provides information on event-
message collection and distribution in the Distributed Systems Management (DSM)
environment. It particular, it contains information on how to write event-message
filters to select event messages of special interest, and how to distribute event
messages to various destinations.
•
The System Generation Manual provides information on installing the Compaq
access methods that provide Layer 1 through Layer 3 services to your OSI/AS
subsystem. It contains information on configuring X25AM lines and controllers and
on configuring Tandem LAN Access Method (TLAM) devices and controllers.
•
The Dynamic System Configuration Manual provides information on installing
X25AM and TLAM lines within your NonStop Kernel operating system
environment without shutting down system operations and cold loading a new
operating system image.
•
The X.25 Access Method (X25AM) Manual provides information on installing and
configuring the Compaq X.25 access method. It is useful when you are installing
your OSI/AS subsystem over an X.25 packet-switching subnetwork.
•
The Multilan/TLAM Management and Operations Manual provides information on
installing and configuring TLAM. It is useful when you are installing your OSI/AS
subsystem over a local area subnetwork.
•
The PAM Configuration and Management Manual provides information on
configuring the Port Access Method (PAM) subsystem. This manual is useful when
you are installing your OSI/AS subsystem over a LAN subnetwork.
Tools to Use
Compaq provides the following tools for installing and configuring your OSI/AS
subsystem:
•
The Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) enables you to interactively add, delete,
change the state, or alter the characteristics of most of the configurable objects
within your subsystem. In G-series systems, SCF is used to configure the underlying
X25AM controllers and the PAM subsystem.
•
The Event Management Service (EMS) enables you to collect, log, and distribute
event messages. You can use this tool to set up filters that select event messages of
particular interest.
