Checking Connection Attributes
Loopback Connections
To fully verify a loopback configuration, you need to do the following:
•
Use the CHECK ENTRY command with the PROFILES attribute (and, optionally,
the SERVERS and DETAIL attributes), specifying the called APPL ENTRY name
(which acts as the remote in this case).
If you use the SERVERS attribute when specifying the local (calling) APPL ENTRY
name in a loopback configuration, the CHECK ENTRY command lists the missing
Layer 3 and Layer 4 servers as errors.
•
In addition, use the CHECK ENTRY command with the CONNECT attribute,
specifying the local (calling) and remote (called) APPL ENTRY names. The
CONNECT attribute must specify the called name. For example, if #APPL.A is the
calling APPL ENTRY object, and #APPL.B is the called APPL ENTRY object, then
the command is as follows:
CHECK ENTRY $OSIM.#APPL.A, CONNECT $OSIM.#APPL.B
For loopback configurations, the CHECK command with the CONNECT attribute
verifies and displays only TAPS process information since that is the only server
required. Layer 3 and Layer 4 servers are not required and are therefore not verified
or displayed.
