Using EMS as a Troubleshooting Tool
EMS collects and distributes all errors reported by all subsystems running in your
Compaq system, including errors reported by the following:
•
SCF
•
OSI/AS-specific SCF
•
SPI
•
OSI/AS-specific SPI
•
Your management application
•
Your user application
•
Underlying subsystems
Individual messages, or groups of messages, can provide important clues and specific
information for diagnosing problems.
EMS filters are a useful mechanism for selecting messages, or groups of messages, of
special interest. Because EMS filters are easy to write, they can quickly be written or
tailored to select messages pertaining to a particular problem. For more information, see
