DSC
DSC
The Dynamic System Configuration (DSC) program allows you to change the
configuration of X25AM and TLAM peripherals, controllers, and communication
processes interactively, without stopping the system. The user interface to DSC is the
Configuration Utility Program (COUP). You can use this tool to add X.25 and LAN
subnetwork lines to OSI/AS without having to bring your NonStop system down to
generate a new operating system image.
SCF
The Subsystem Control Facility (SCF), a Distributed Systems Management (DSM) tool,
allows you to configure the OSI/AS subsystem and the underlying OSI/TS subsystem.
In G-series releases, SCF is also used to configure the underlying X25AM controllers
and the PAM subsystem (for G06 and above releases). The OSI manager is used to add
and delete objects and to alter the characteristics of OSI/AS and OSI/TS interactively.
SCF also provides status and statistics information and tracing capabilities. For a
description of the general features, syntax, and semantics of SCF, see the Subsystem
Control Facility (SCF) Reference Manual (for D-series releases) or the SCF Reference
Manual for G-Series Releases. For a description of the OSI/AS-specific syntax and
semantics, see the OSI/AS SCF Reference Manual.
SCP
The Subsystem Control Point (SCP) is an intermediate process between SCF and the
OSI/AS subsystem. It provides security by restricting access to certain commands and
also provides tracing support for OSI/AS. SCP is opened automatically by SCF. For
more details about SCP, see the SCF Reference Manual for SCP and the Subsystem
Control Facility (SCF) Reference Manual (for D-series releases) or the SCF Reference
Manual for G-Series Releases.
EMS
The Event Management Service (EMS) provides event collection, event logging, and
event distribution facilities for OSI/AS and underlying subsystems. You can use this tool
to set up filters that select event messages of particular interest. Event messages issued
by the OSI/AS subsystem are described in Operator Messages: Distributed Systems
Management (DSM) Display Format, Operator Messages: Console Format, and the
OSI/AS Management Programming Manual.
PTrace
PTrace selects, formats, and displays trace data that has been gathered by the SCF
TRACE command. More detailed information on the PTrace displays for the OSI/AS
subsystem is in the OSI/AS SCF Reference Manual.
