Relationship of PROFILE Objects to ENTRY Objects
Relationship of PROFILE Objects to ENTRY Objects
You assign PROFILE objects to specific OSI address components and to specific
OSI/AS subsystem processes by means of ENTRY objects. Table 2-4 shows the
relationship between the Network Layer, Transport Layer, and Session Layer PROFILE
objects; the OSI/AS processes affected; and the ENTRY object types you use to make
the assignments.
See ENTRY Objects
on page 2-12 for examples of PROFILE object assignments.
Remote Versus Local PROFILE Objects
When the OSI manager process receives connect requests or attach requests, it uses the
selection hierarchy shown in Table 2-8, later in this section. The table indicates that
remote profiles take precedence over local profiles during the connection-establishment
phase. This hierarchy supports situations in which an individual local TSEL or NSAP is
connected to multiple remote TSELs or NSAPs. Each remote TSEL or NSAP may have
a slightly different profile, differing from each other and from your local profile (for
example, the timers may be set to different values). Therefore, the OSI manager process
looks for a remote profile first to accommodate the needs of the remote end of the
connection.
SCF Commands for PROFILE Objects
You can use the following SCF commands with the PROFILE object:
