Here is a description of each of the manuals included in the Documentation Road
Map:
Introduction to Tandem NonStop Systems describes the application environment,
architecture, and networking of NonStop systems and explains basic concepts, terms,
and entities in the NonStop environment.
Introduction to Distributed Systems Management (DSM) introduces the set of software
products collectively called Distributed Systems Management. It also discusses
support for DSM within individual Tandem subsystems.
Guardian 90 Operating System Programmer’s Guide describes how to use the Guardian 90
operating system procedure calls, including the file-system procedures.
System Procedure Calls Reference Manual gives the syntax and procedure-specific
programming considerations for all the Guardian 90 operating system procedure calls.
The language manual(s) you need depend on the Tandem programming language you
are using, as follows:
For TAL, the Transaction Application Language (TAL) Reference Manual
For C, the C Reference Manual
For COBOL85, the COBOL85 Reference Manual, Volumes 1 and 2
For TACL, the Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL) Reference Manual,
Volumes 1 and 2, and the TACL Programmer’s Guide
Distributed Systems Management (DSM) Programming Manual describes the Subsystem
Programmatic Interface (SPI), which is used for management programming of Tandem
subsystems. SPI provides a set of procedure calls and a set of definition files to be
used in management programs.
Event Management Service (EMS) Manual describes the Event Management Service, a
facility for management of event messages generated by subsystems. EMS provides
event-message collector and distributor processes, a set of higher-level procedure calls
built on the SPI procedures, and a set of definition files.
Communications Management Programming Manual describes the common management
programming interface to Tandem data communications subsystems. This common
interface includes the Subsystem Control Point (SCP) process and a set of common
data communications (ZCOM) definition files.
Tandem OSI/AS Configuration and Management Manual describes the tasks necessary for
managing the OSI/AS subsystem.
Tandem OSI/TS Management Programming Manual describes the management
programming interface to the OSI/TS subsystem. Since OSI/AS relies on OSI/TS for
Transport Layer functions, a management program written to manage OSI/AS may
also need to send commands to OSI/TS or to handle OSI/TS event messages.
