OSI/AS and OSI/TS Supported Standards
The following manuals contain background information on the Compaq environment:
The Introduction to Networking and Data Communications for Himalaya S-Series
Servers provides an overview of Compaq networking and data communications
products for G-series systems.
The Introduction to Distributed Systems Management (DSM) introduces the
products and components collectively known as Distributed Systems Management.
The manual also discusses subsystem enhancements to support DSM.
The Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) Reference Manual (for D-series releases) and
the SCF Reference Manual for G-Series Releases describe the operation of SCF and
tell system and network managers how to use SCF to configure, control, and inquire
about supported data communications subsystems.
The Introduction to Tandem X.25 Capabilities describes the use of wide area
networks (WANs) on X.25 packet-switched networks connected to Compaq
NonStop systems by way of the X.25 Access Method (X25AM) product, including
the basic installation and management process for X25AM. This manual is
necessary only if you use X.25-based communications.
The following manuals contain information on event and problem management:
The PTrace Reference Manual tells system and network managers how to display
trace files created by the SCF TRACE command. It provides information that
applies to all subsystems.
The EMS Manual tells system and network managers how to write event-message
filters to select messages of particular interest and distribute them to various
destinations.
The ViewPoing Manual describes a multifunction operations console application
that allows the management of a network of systems. The manual describes how to
install, configure, and start ViewPoint for custom applications.
OSI/AS and OSI/TS Supported Standards
The OSI/AS subsystem and the OSI/TS subsystem together provide core services that
support the seven-layer OSI Reference Model. Configuration and control of the lower
layers is covered in the manuals for the OSI/TS, X25AM, TCP/IP, and TLAM (for D-
series releases or PAM (for G06 and above releases) subsystems.
