START PROCESS
START PROCESS
The START PROCESS command initiates the operation of a specified process, placing
it in the STARTED state. If the specified initiator or responder process does not exist,
APLMGR creates the process and sends it a START PROCESS command. If the
initiator or responder does exist, a START PROCESS command is routed to the
specified process. START PROCESS is a sensitive command.
The START PROCESS command has the following syntax:
\system-name
identifies the system in which the APLMGR process is running.
$appl-mgr-name
identifies the APLMGR process you are starting.
indirect-process-name
identifies the FTAM process you are starting.
START PROCESS Considerations
•
You cannot send this command directly to an initiator or a responder process. If you
specify indirect-process-name, the APLMGR process routes it to the
specified initiator or responder process.
•
A process must be either in the STOPPED or SUSPENDED state for this command
to be completed successfully. Use of the START PROCESS command changes the
state of the process to the STARTED state.
•
When this command is applied to an APLMGR process, the APLMGR reads the
contents of its MIB and checks the states of all its subordinate processes. For each
initiator and responder process defined in the MIB, the APLMGR does the
following:
°
If the process is already running, the APLMGR opens it, requests its state, and
sets that state for that process within the MIB.
°
If the process is not running, the APLMGR sets its state to STOPPED.
•
When this command is applied to an initiator or a responder process, APLMGR
creates the process, configures (in the case of a responder) the profiles for the
process, and then places the process in the STARTED state.
