OSI/FTAM and OSI/APLMGR SCF Reference Manual
What’s New in This Manual
OSI/FTAM and OSI/APLMGR SCF Reference Manual—421943-001
xiv
New and Changed Information
The following list summarizes the changes to this edition of the manual:
•
Port Access Method (PAM) and NonStop TCP/IP. Text and figures have been
modified to reflect FTAM support for the Tandem NonStop TCP/IP subsystem and
for the PAM subsystem, which replaces the Tandem LAN Access Method (TLAM)
subsystem for G-series releases. For more information on NonStop TCP/IP
configurations for Tandem FTAM, see the Tandem OSI/AS and OSI/TS Supplement
(Includes RFC-1006 Support).
•
High-PIN processes. By default, FTAM processes now run at a high PIN. If you
want the APLMGR to run at a low PIN, you must specify this in the RUN
command. For initiator and responder processes, you can specify the attribute
HIGHPIN OFF in the SCF ADD PROCESS or ALTER PROCESS command. See
HIGHPIN
on page 4-8.
•
Object states for the PROCESS object. FTAM processes can be in, or in transition
to, any of four states: STARTED, STOPPED, SUSPENDED, or UNDEFINED.
Previous editions of this manual referred to this fourth state as UNKNOWN.
Figure 2-3, Process-State Transitions, on page 2-6, illustrates the process states, the
commands that cause each state transition, and the intermediate states that exist
during process-state transitions.
•
Filename expansion for CODEFILE, FTAMIFILE, and FTAMRFILE
attributes.
°
CODEFILE identifies the FTAM initiator code file or FTAM responder code file
to be executed when APLMGR starts the process. If CODEFILE is provided but
is not a fully qualified Guardian filename, the filename is expanded using the
current SCF system, volume, and subvolume. The expansion also depends on
the _SCF_SEARCH DEFINE of class SEARCH. See CODEFILE
on page 4-4.
°
FTAMIFILE specifies the fully qualified filename of the default FTAM initiator
code file used when CODEFILE is not specified in the ADD PROCESS
command. If FTAMIFILE is provided but is not a fully qualified Guardian
filename, the filename is expanded using the current SCF system, volume, and
subvolume. The expansion also depends on the _SCF_SEARCH DEFINE of
class SEARCH. See FTAMIFILE
on page 4-8.
°
FTAMRFILE specifies the fully qualified filename of the default FTAM
responder code file used when CODEFILE is not specified in the ADD
PROCESS command. If FTAMRFILE is provided but is not a fully qualified
Guardian filename, the filename is expanded using the current SCF system,
volume, and subvolume. The expansion also depends on the _SCF_SEARCH
DEFINE of class SEARCH. See FTAMRFILE
on page 4-8.
•
FTAM manuals and related manuals. The titles of some of the manuals that
describe FTAM, OSI/AS, OSI/TS, underlying subsystems, and related products have
changed. See FTAM Manuals
on page xvii and Related Manuals on page xix. Also
included are descriptions of manuals for the PAM and NonStop TCP/IP subsystems.
