About This Manual
The OSI/FTAM and OSI/APLMGR SCF Reference Manual describes the Subsystem
Control Facility (SCF) interactive interface that allows operators to monitor and collect
information during the operation of Tandem Open Systems Interconnection/File
Transfer, Access and Management (OSI/FTAM) software.
Unlike most Tandem subsystems, Tandem FTAM is managed through two SCF
interfaces: the interface to the FTAM processes themselves, and the interface to their
manager process, APLMGR. In general terms, the APLMGR SCF interface allows you
to configure and manage Tandem FTAM processes, and the FTAM SCF interface allows
you to manage subdevices of those processes. SCF sends interactive commands to SCP,
which routes them to an APLMGR, initiator, or responder process based on the form of
the process object name, as described in Section 1, Introduction to SCF for Tandem
FTAM.
This manual describes the SCF interfaces for FTAM and APLMGR.
Manual Audience
This manual is written for those who use the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) to
monitor, configure, and control the Tandem FTAM and APLMGR subsystems. To use
this manual, you should already be familiar with Tandem system architecture,
Distributed Systems Management (DSM), basic SCF operations, FTAM and APLMGR
functions, OSI/AS, OSI/TS, and (depending on your configuration) one or more of the
following communications subsystems: the Tandem LAN Access Method (TLAM) or
the Port Access Method (PAM, which replaces TLAM for G-series systems); Tandem
NonStop TCP/IP, and/or the X.25 Access Method (X25AM).
