PTrace Commands
PTrace Commands
The EBCDIC, SETTRANSLATE, and TRANSLATE commands have no effect. All
other commands are implemented in the standard format. The PTrace DETAIL option is
issued with PTrace commands for FTAM processes (initiators and responders) to display
detailed PDU or internal-format data.
The file ZFTMSMT is provided in the software release subvolume ZOSIFTAM to use as
input to the STATETABLES command. This binary file allows PTrace to display state
information in text form, as opposed to numbers.
SELECT Command
SELECT keywords can be used in both the PTrace SELECT command and the SELECT
option of the SCF TRACE command to gather different kinds of information on
APLMGR, initiator, and responder processes. The SELECT option in the TRACE
command determines which trace records will be collected and written to the trace file;
the PTrace SELECT command determines which records in the trace file will be
selected for display.
If you use a SELECT option in a TRACE command, you do not need to repeat that same
SELECT keyword in the PTrace SELECT command—the trace file already contains
only those selected record types. However, if you have not selected any particular type
of trace information (in other words, you have used SELECT ALL in the TRACE
command), you can use the PTrace SELECT command to choose specific record types
for display.
Table 5-2
on page 5-7 shows the SELECT keywords and trace record types and subtypes
used with the APLMGR, initiator, and responder processes. Each SELECT keyword is
used to trace one or more kinds of process activity and has one or more record types
associated with it. In the case of the ASN1, USER, and PROV keywords, each record
type has several subtypes. The record identifier specifies the particular process activity
being reported in this trace record.
