These manuals contain background information on the Tandem environment:
The Introduction to Networking and Data Communications for Himalaya S-Series
Servers provides an overview of Tandem networking and data communications
products.
The Introduction to Distributed Systems Management (DSM) introduces the
products and components that are collectively called Distributed Systems
Management. It also discusses subsystem enhancements to support DSM.
The Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) Reference Manual describes, for D-series
systems, the operation of SCF and tells system and network managers how to use
SCF to configure, control, and inquire about supported data communications
subsystems. For G-series systems, refer to the SCF Reference Manual for G-Series
Releases.
These manuals contain information on event and problem management:
The PTrace Reference Manual tells system and network managers how to display
trace files created by the SCF TRACE command. It provides information that
applies to all subsystems; information specific to Tandem FTAM is provided in
Section 5, PTrace Reference for Tandem FTAM.
The ViewPoint Manual describes a multifunction operations console application that
allows the management of a network of systems. The manual describes how to
install, configure, and start ViewPoint for custom applications.
These manuals contain information on underlying OSI subsystems:
The OSI/AS Configuration and Management Manual describes how to install,
configure, and manage OSI/AS. This manual also includes information on
monitoring and adjusting OSI/AS to optimize performance, and on diagnosing and
fixing problems.
The OSI/TS Configuration and Management Manual is intended for programmers,
system managers, and system operators. It describes how to write Transport Layer
applications that use the Tandem OSI/TS software to communicate with remote
transport users across an OSI network. It also describes how to configure the
Tandem OSI/TS subsystem and how to diagnose configuration and performance
problems.
The TCP/IP Configuration and Management Manual describes how to set up and
manage the Tandem NonStop TCP/IP subsystem on a Himalaya S-series server. This
manual is written for system managers, operators, and others who configure and
manage Tandem NonStop TCP/IP.
The PAM Configuration and Management Manual describes the Port Access
Method (PAM) subsystem, which allows applications running on Himalaya S-series
servers access to Ethernet and token-ring networks. This manual is written for
system managers, operators, and others who configure and manage network
subsystems on Himalaya S-series servers.
