Introduction to SCF for Tandem FTAM
This section provides an overview of the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) interface to
Tandem Open Systems Interconnection/File Transfer, Access, and Management
(OSI/FTAM). The section also describes the subsystem architecture of Tandem FTAM
and the Distributed Systems Management (DSM) interfaces and DSM functions
available for Tandem FTAM.
This section is intended to help you get started using SCF. For a complete description of
general SCF concepts and commands, see the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF)
Reference Manual (for D-series releases) or the SCF Reference Manual for G-Series
Releases.
Tasks You Can Perform Using SCF
SCF commands applied directly to the APLMGR process allow you to
•
Reconfigure the APLMGR process
•
Control the states of the APLMGR process
•
Configure or reconfigure the initiator and responder processes
•
Configure or reconfigure virtual filestore (VFS) profiles
•
Configure an alternate collector (FTC) profile
•
Remove process and profile definitions
•
Request information on the APLMGR subsystem, FTAM processes, VFS profiles,
and FTC profile
•
Trace the activity of the APLMGR process
SCF commands applied indirectly to initiator and responder processes, through the
APLMGR process, allow you to
•
Control the states of these processes
•
Control opens to initiators
•
Request information about process configuration and status
You can also use SCF to manage an initiator or responder process directly. SCF
commands applied directly to initiator and responder processes allow you to
•
Monitor the activity of initiator and responder processes
•
Stop or allow opens to these processes
•
Trace initiator and responder process activity
•
Abort subdevices
