SU Object
SU Object
An SU (subdevice) object provides access to an FTAM association made through a
Tandem initiator or responder process. SU objects are used to manage FTAM
subdevices. Figure 2-4
shows the differences between initiator and responder
subdevices, and their relationship to subdevices in underlying subsystems.
Naming Conventions for the SU Object
The SU object is named by appending a single qualifier (su-name) to the process
name, as follows:
SU [\system-name.]$process-name.#su-name
su-name is the subdevice name created dynamically by the APLMGR or responder
process.
The APLMGR process creates FTAM initiator subdevice names in response to
application requests. All initiator subdevice names consist of “#Z” and six digits. The
APLMGR keeps an internal count of initiator requests and uses that count to assign
numeric identities to initiator subdevices starting with 000001. The FTAM responder
process also uses a counter to generate subdevice names internally. Responder subdevice
names consist of “#ZF” and five digits starting at 00001.
