Consideration for VFS Profiles
The ADD PROFILE command for FTC profiles has the following syntax:
\system-name
identifies the system in which the APLMGR process is running.
$appl-mgr-name
identifies the APLMGR process associated with the alternate collector profile you are
adding. appl-mgr-name is a Guardian process name.
$collector-name and destination
are Event Management Service (EMS) options.
See Section 4, Attributes for Tandem FTAM
, for detailed descriptions of the
configurable characteristics of Tandem FTAM objects.
Consideration for VFS Profiles
Only one VFS profile can be added per command.
Considerations for FTC Profiles
Only one alternate collector (and, therefore, only one FTC profile) is allowed per
Tandem FTAM subsystem. (Because there is never more than one FTC profile in a
subsystem, no profile-name is required.) However, two or more Tandem FTAM
subsystems may use the same alternate collector.
You must create and start the alternate collector process before adding the FTC
profile. See the OSI/FTAM Configuration and Management Manual for an example
of creating and starting an alternate collector process.
Adding an FTC profile has a very different effect on the subsystem than when
adding a VFS profile. When an FTC profile is added, the information in the MIB is
updated immediately, regardless of the state of the initiator and responder processes
(even while they are running). Event messages are immediately directed to the
newly specified alternate collector.
An FTC profile cannot be modified after it is added. To change an FTC profile, you
must first delete the profile and then add a new FTC profile.
