Table i. Manual Contents
Section or Appendix Contents
Section 1, Introduction to
Tandem FTAM
Introduces OSI/FTAM and provides an explanation of its
architecture. Also discusses the hardware and software you
need to run FTAM on a Tandem NonStop system.
Section 2, FTAM
Management Environment
Discusses three Distributed Systems Management (DSM)
tools you can use to manage OSI/FTAM: the Subsystem
Control Facility (SCF), the Event Management Service
(EMS), and the PTrace (print trace) utility.
Section 3, Planning,
Installing, and Configuring
Tandem FTAM
Gives instructions for planning and installing your OSI/FTAM
configuration. Also provides an example FTAM configuration
used in this and subsequent sections of the manual.
Section 4, Managing the
FTAM Configuration
Discusses five important tasks for managing your OSI/FTAM
configuration: managing OSI/APLMGR configuration files,
retrieving configuration information, controlling open
requests, controlling object states, and checking association
status.
Section 5, Monitoring
FTAM Performance
Explains how system-operation factors can influence
OSI/FTAM performance. This section includes sample screen
displays returned by the commands you use to monitor the
performance of Tandem FTAM.
Section 6, FTAM
Troubleshooting
Provides information to help you diagnose problems
encountered in the operation of FTAM and your application
programs that use FTAM. It describes the tools available to
help you troubleshoot problems, along with specific classes of
problems, their symptoms, and examples.
Appendix A, Example
FTAM Configuration
Command Files
Provides source listings of SCF command files and File
Utility Program (FUP) input files used to configure and
manage the sample FTAM configuration presented in
Section 3.
Appendix B, FTAM EMS
Filters
Provides source listings of filters used to collect and display
event messages useful to those managing OSI/FTAM.
Appendix C, FTAM
Software Files
Identifies the files and subvolumes where the Tandem Install
program places the OSI/FTAM software on your system. The
person running Install at your site chooses the volumes on
which these subvolumes are placed.
