Monitoring Object Status
Monitoring Object Status
The SCF STATUS command provides information concerning the status of Tandem
FTAM components. This information is useful if you note an inconsistency in the level
of FTAM operation. For example, if you perform a particular file transfer on a daily
basis and find one day that the transfer is taking longer than usual, the STATUS
command can help you determine why. The command provides data on the operation of
three types of objects in Tandem FTAM: SUBSYS, PROCESS, and SU.
Displaying Subsystem Status
To display status information on the subsystem in general, issue the SCF STATUS
SUBSYS command to the APLMGR process. This command returns information on
what subsystem resources are configured and how they are currently being used. It
provides an initial overview as a base for the information returned by other STATUS
commands.
To send the STATUS SUBSYS command with the DETAIL option to the APLMGR
process shown in the example FTAM configuration (see Example FTAM Configuration
on page 3-38), enter the following:
STATUS SUBSYS $AMGR, DETAIL
The example configuration returns the following display:
Among other things, this screen shows that $AMGR has a backup process, an OPEN
MIB state (the MIB should always be in an OPEN state when $AMGR is in a
STARTED state), all of its processes in the STARTED state, and a total of five openers.
Two initiator and two responder processes are currently configured and started; these are
four of the openers, and the fifth opener is SCP ($ZNET).
If FTAM operation time is slow, you might want to configure and start additional
initiator or responder processes; however, keep in mind that doing so will increase
memory usage.
Issuing the STATUS SUBSYS command without the DETAIL option returns only the
name of the APLMGR process, the number of FTAM processes configured and started,
and the state of the subsystem.
