SCF Objects
SCF Objects
Objects provide SCF commands a target on which to act. Using objects, you can direct
commands to an entire subsystem (SUBSYS object) or one of its components such as a
subdevice (SU object). This subsection discusses the different object types supported by
Tandem FTAM and how you can use them in configuring and managing a Tandem
FTAM installation.
For more detailed information on objects, naming conventions, object states, and object
attributes for the Tandem FTAM and APLMGR subsystems, see the OSI/FTAM and
OSI/APLMGR SCF Reference Manual.
APLMGR Object Types and Hierarchy
The APLMGR subsystem supports three object types: SUBSYS (subsystem),
PROCESS, and PROFILE. Figure 2-3 shows the hierarchical relationships of these three
object types. The SUBSYS object controls the PROCESS and PROFILE objects. (The
null object type also is supported for some commands, but it is not shown in the diagram
because it is not a true object type and therefore has no place in the hierarchy.)
When you send commands to APLMGR, you use the SUBSYS object to address the
APLMGR subsystem as a whole, and you use PROCESS or PROFILE objects to
address individual parts of the subsystem: the APLMGR process, an FTAM initiator or a
responder process, or a VFS profile, which further defines an FTAM responder process.
