FTAM Object Types and Hierarchy
FTAM Object Types and Hierarchy
The FTAM subsystem supports two object types: PROCESS and SU (subdevice).
Figure 2-4 shows the hierarchical relationship of these two object types: in the Tandem
FTAM subsystem, the PROCESS object controls the SU objects. (Again, the null object
type is supported but is not shown in the diagram, because it is not a true object type and
has no place in the hierarchy.)
When you send commands directly to a Tandem FTAM process, use the PROCESS
object to address the process globally and the SU object to address a subdevice
associated with an FTAM initiator or a responder process.
Object Names
In general, you issue SCF commands by specifying the following:
command object-type object-name
For example, you could use SCF to display information about an FTAM initiator process
named $FTI1 by issuing the following command:
INFO PROCESS $FTI1
Naming conventions vary for each object type. Specific naming conventions for each
object are discussed in the following subsections:
null Objects on page 2-11
SUBSYS Object Names on page 2-13
PROCESS Object Names on page 2-20
SU Object Names on page 2-22
