PROCESS Objects
Processes in some states can accept only certain commands. Table 2-6 lists the SCF
commands that can be applied to processes in the STOPPED, SUSPENDED, and
STARTED states. Note that you can issue the ALTER command to a process in the
STARTED state only if it is a responder process and you are changing the ALLOWSU
attribute.
Table 2-7
describes the effect of SCF commands that cause process-state transitions.

Command Effect of Command on Process Activity
ABORT PROCESS Stops the process abruptly without regard for communications
in progress and places the process in the STOPPED state.
ACTIVATE PROCESS Changes the process state from SUSPENDED to STARTED.
START PROCESS Starts the operation of a process and places that process in the
STARTED state.
STOP PROCESS Stops processes in a more orderly fashion than the ABORT
command and places the processes in the STOPPED state.
SUSPEND PROCESS Changes the process state from STARTED to SUSPENDED.
