PROFILE Object
SU Object Names
The names of subdevices associated with FTAM initiator processes are assigned by the
APLMGR process so that they are unique within the subsystem. These names always
begin with #Z, followed by six decimal digits—for example, #Z254634. The APLMGR
process keeps an internal count of initiator requests and assigns numeric identities to
initiator subdevices, beginning with 000001. When another subdevice is generated, the
next numerically sequential name is assigned to that subdevice. Subdevice names are not
reused.
Names of subdevices associated with responder processes always begin with #ZF,
followed by five decimal digits. The responder process uses a counter to generate
subdevice names internally, beginning at 00001. When the responder discards a
subdevice and automatically regenerates a new one, it assigns a new subdevice name,
and the old name is not reused.
SU objects are named by specifying the system name (optional) and the name of the
initiator or responder process followed by the name of the subdevice. For information on
determining the names assigned to subdevices, see Retrieving Configuration
Information on page 4-6.
The following are examples of valid SCF commands using the SU object:
ABORT SU \MARS.$FTI1.#Z345212
LISTOPENS SU $FTR1.#ZF34522
STATUS SU $FTI2.#Z304322, DETAIL
PROFILE Object
A profile is a named, configured set of attributes that can be applied to multiple objects
of the same type. The PROFILE object in Tandem FTAM defines important addressing
information and, optionally, password information for responder processes; several
responders can use the same profile. This information enables local Tandem FTAM
responders to handle requests from remote FTAM initiator processes through the
OSI/AS subsystem. A PROFILE object allows you to define more than one Tandem
FTAM responder process for the same OSI network address, and allows you to make
several responder processes available to service the requests coming to one address.
Section 3, Planning, Installing, and Configuring Tandem FTAM
, discusses configuring
profiles in greater detail.
SCF Commands for the PROFILE Object
