File-Access Data Units
You can refer to individual FADUs by FADU identities. Table 2-5 lists the values that
the FADU identity can assume. NonStop FTAM supports all values in the table, unless
otherwise noted; many of the values in Table 2-5, however, apply only to the FTAM-2
document type. For further information on FADU identities that HP does not support,
see ISO 8571-2, clause 7.6.

Types
Table 2-5. FADU-Identity Values
FADU-Identity Value Description
First Identifies the first FADU in the preorder traversal sequence for
which data exists.
Last Identifies the last FADU in the preorder traversal sequence.
Current Identifies a FADU previously identified.
Previous Identifies the FADU preceding the current FADU in the
preorder traversal sequence.
Next Identifies the FADU following the current FADU in the preorder
traversal sequence.
Begin Identifies the position in the file such that “locate next” will
identify the “first” FADU.
End Identifies the position in the file such that “locate previous” will
identify the “last” FADU.
Node name Not supported by NonStop FTAM. For details, see ISO 8571-2,
clause 7.6.
Sequence of node names Not supported by NonStop FTAM. For details, see ISO 8571-2,
clause 7.6.
Node number Identifies a node by its relative position in the preorder
sequence for the file. The root node of the file is numbered
zero.
