FTAM-3 Files
To create such a file for use with NonStop FTAM, use these parameters:
•
File type must be Unstructured (0) if string-significance is not significant, or
Entry-sequenced (2) if string-significance is fixed or variable.
•
File code can be anything you want, avoiding codes 100 through 999; but if you
want to make the file accessible to other users through the NonStop FTAM
responder, use file code 0 for an unstructured file, 891 for a file with fixed
string-significance, and 892 for a file with variable string-significance.
•
Record length must be equal to the maximum-string-length you want for the FTAM
file. It must be between 1 and 4072 for an entry-sequenced file. Record length is
not applicable to an unstructured file.
•
Extent sizes and number of extents, which determine the size of the file, should be
consistent with the requirements of your application, for instance, large enough to
hold the data you expect to transfer into the file.
