GROUP Objects
ALTER Alters one or more attributes of an OSI/MHS group. Most of the
attributes refer to the process(es) contained in the group.
The ALTER command for an MS GROUP object allows you to specify
whether or not MS bind authentication parameters are to be validated
using an external password server process. If so, you also specify the
name of the password server. For more information on password
servers, see OSI/MHS Security Interfaces on page 2-11. For
information on integrating a password server, see the OSI/MHS
Management Programming Manual.
You must stop the GROUP object before you alter it. Then restart the
group.
When you are altering the attributes of a file in order to move that file,
such as PDU store location and work subvolume, make sure that the
files are also moved. The ALTER command does not change the
external resources, such as file name, OSI address, and so forth.
DELETE Deletes a GROUP object definition from the OSI/MHS configuration
database, along with the subordinate PROCESS object definition(s).
Before deleting a GROUP object, you must stop it. Before deleting an
MS group, you must also stop and delete any APPL (user application)
objects that use that MS.
INFO Lists the attribute values for an OSI/MHS GROUP object. Most of the
attributes refer to the process(es) contained in the group.
NAMES Lists the names of the objects subordinate to a GROUP object in this
OSI/MHS subsystem. Unless the command includes the option SUB
ONLY, it also displays the name of the GROUP object itself.
START Changes the summary state of an OSI/MHS group from STOPPED to
STARTED.
When you start a group, you start the individual NonStop process(es)
that constitute that group. Before you start a GROUP object, its
corresponding CLASS object must be started.
You can start a group directly through the START GROUP command or
indirectly through the START CLASS command with the SUB ALL
option. It may take some time for a group to enter the STARTED state
after the START command is issued. The time involved depends on the
type of group being started and whether recovery is required.
STATUS Displays the summary state of an OSI/MHS group.
