OSI/MHS Configuration and Management Manual

Installing Your OSI/MHS Subsystem

The Installation Menu
SQL is required, so answer yes. The system verifies that SQL is running and then
displays the following information and question.
This question lets you choose between the system defaults for a first-time installation
and the settings that are currently in the installation file.
If your response is yes, the installation procedure selects only those steps that are
recommended if you have never installed an OSI/MHS subsystem before. Specifically,
the installation procedure sets these steps to yes:
Copying the OSI/MHS ISV to the OSI/MHS subvolume
Securing new executable object files
SQL compiling the MS initialization program
Creating the MS catalog
Compiling the MS program
Creating the OSI/MHS and MR databases
All other steps remain the same as specified in the installation file.
If your response is no, the installation procedure uses the steps you set to yes in the
installation file. Even if you have never installed OSI/MHS before, you may choose the
no response if you are confident of the steps you have selected in the installation file.
At this point, the installation menu appears.
The Installation Menu
The installation menu (Example 4-4) contains all the settings with the exception of PDU
store file names and MS SQL database subvolume names, which are in the same
subvolumes as the MS SQL catalog.
The first 14 items on the menu are location names, process names, or security
settings. The remaining items are steps that you can set to yes or no; that is, you can
select them to occur or not to occur.
If you respond "yes" to the next question, some first time
installation values will be selected and might change some
of the values read from the installation file
(<inst-file>).
Is this the first time you are going to install OSI/MHS? [n]
Note. The changes you make in the installation menu do not affect the installation file; the
interactive menu procedure just gives you the opportunity to change things for the immediate
session.
