Upgrading from RVU D22 to D41
To avoid a temporary loss of service, you can upgrade the OSI/MHS subsystem in two
stages. The two-stage upgrade lets you use parts of OSI/MHS while the MS database
is being converted.
The MS D22 database formats for OSI/MHS D41 are not compatible with the D20 and
D21 versions. If the databases cannot be converted to the D22 database format, you
cannot restart the MS groups. To revert back to the previous versions of OSI/MHS,
you must use backups or online dumps to restore all databases to their previous
states.
Gateways migrated from D20, D21, or D22 OSI/MHS systems will have the GATEWAY
GW-MAX-TIME-EXPIRED attribute value set to 0 during installation (with the
MHSINST procedures). See the OSI/MHS Management Programming Manual and the
OSI/MHS SCF Reference Manual for information about the GW-MAX-TIME-EXPIRED
attribute.
Upgrading from RVU D22 to D41
Migration to the D41 OSI/MHS RVU from the D22 OSI/MHS RVU does not require any
new database upgrading.
Upgrading in One Stage
To upgrade to OSI/MHS D22 or D41, make sure that TMF is configured and running
and that NonStop SQL is installed. Then follow the instructions described in Installing
OSI/MHS for the First Time on page 4-11. The differences that apply to upgrading are
described below. Note that the examples shown are for migrating to D22; however,
they are also valid for migrating to D41.
If You Are Not Using MS Groups
If you are not using MS groups, you need not do the MS database conversion. Answer
no to the following question:
Answer yes to the question:
The installation procedure sets the steps that are appropriate for an upgrade to D22 or
D41. These are:
•
Copying the OSI/MHS ISV to the OSI/MHS subvolume.
•
Securing new executable object files.
•
Converting the route database.
•
SQL compiling the MS initialization program.
