Configuring Your OSI/MHS
Subsystem
This section describes how to create SCF configuration files for a sample corporate
user. The corporation is not real, but the configuration described is realistic. Three
sample MTAs are defined. Each illustrates and highlights different features of an
OSI/MHS subsystem. This section covers the following topics:
Overview of corporate user
Message flow
Format of configuration descriptions
Configuring MTA2
Configuring MTA3
Configuring MTA1
Appendix A, Examples of Configuration Files, contains the complete command files for
configuring each OSI/MHS MTA and the OSI/AS and OSI/TS subsystems to support
each one. Appendix A also includes the installation files and an overview of the OSI
configurations and addresses for each MTA.
Overview of Corporate User
A (fictitious) company called Device Industries has offices in a number of locations
throughout North America. The company requires a three-node configuration. At each
node, an HP NonStop system with OSI/MHS (and other necessary products) is
installed and connected to the other nodes using only the OSI/AS subsystem and
related products. The Expand network operating software is not used to connect the
subsystems. (Note that although the subsystems are connected through OSI, you
could also run Expand lines between the NonStop systems to provide for the
continuous availability of management applications.) Figure 5-1 illustrates this
network.
