Starting, Stopping, and Updating
Your OSI/MHS Subsystem
After you have planned, installed, and configured your OSI/MHS subsystem, the next
step is to start the subsystem. This section describes how to start, stop, and update
your OSI/MHS subsystem. Specifically, it covers the following topics:
•
Starting the subsystem
•
Running the MHS manager
•
Defining all objects to the MHS manager
•
Starting the subsystem objects
•
Stopping the subsystem
•
Restarting OSI/MHS
•
Updating the OSI/MHS software
Before you start your OSI/MHS subsystem, make sure that you have the other required
subsystems installed, configured, and running. These subsystems include the
following:
OSI/AS and OSI/TS
TMF
X25AM
TLAMor PAM
TCP/IP over X25AM or TLAM or PAM (if you are communicating over the Internet)
HP NonStop™ SQL (if you are using message stores)
In some cases, you must also define and start processes external to the OSI/MHS
subsystem.
Running the MHS Manager Process
You create and install the OSI/MHS database by using the installation procedure, as
described in Section 4, Installing Your OSI/MHS Subsystem. After installing the MHS
manager, the steps in running it are as follows:
1. If you use external password servers for adjacent MTAs or MS groups, define and
start the servers. (If you do not use external password servers, you can omit this
step.)
2. Specify the startup parameters for the MHS manager.
3. Define subsystem objects to the MHS manager.
