Monitoring EMS Events
INFO MTA Command
For information about a specific MTA, enter:
INFO MTA $MHS1.#MTA2,DETAIL
This command displays detailed information about MTA2.
This shows the local OSI address of MTA2 and the remote OSI address of an adjacent
MTA. Using this information, you can monitor your MTA-to-MTA connections.
Being aware of the interface with OSI/AS is especially useful in troubleshooting. If you
have a problem with a connection failure, you can often trace the connection through
these commands and identify where the problem occurs. For more information about
Troubleshooting, see Section 9, Troubleshooting Your OSI/MHS Subsystem.
For more information about OSI addresses, see Appendix D, OSI Address
Configuration in OSI/MHS.
Monitoring EMS Events
The MHS manager and the LO, GI, MR, MS, RS, RTS, and SC processes generate
EMS event messages. Routine monitoring of these event messages is useful because
they can help you understand the status of your system and identify problems; they
provide information useful for accounting and billing; and, when analyzed over a period
of time, they also support long-range planning tasks such as capacity management.
