The first instance of event message 44 shows that the message could not be routed to
recipient 1, and the second instance shows that the report could not be routed to the
originator of the message. Event message 44 is an accounting event message: it is
present only if it is enabled.
Events 4 and 5 are the standard EMS events generated by an MR process when a
report is unroutable. These events are described in detail in the OSI/MHS
Management Programming Manual.
Events 7 and 8 provide summary information about the failed delivery. If OSI/MHS
could not relay an incoming report, the event messages identify that report; if OSI/MHS
could not route a nondelivery report that it created, the event message identifies the
incoming message or probe that caused the nondelivery report to be produced. Event
messages 7 and 8 are accounting event messages; they are present only if enabled.
For information about using PDU IDs and MPDU IDs to tell which event messages are
related, see Message Tracking on page 9-31.
The most important information in event message 8 is found in Reason, which is the
nondelivery reason code, and Diag, which is the nondelivery diagnostic code. These
diagnostic codes are described in the OSI/MHS Management Programming Manual
and in the CCITT 1988 X.411 Recommendations. The most important information in
event message 4 is the specified “unroutable for reason” code, which in this case has a
