Problem Reporting
Problem Reporting
If memory problems persist after you adjust the GPI_Initialize parameters and change
the swap volume, save the following information and provide it to your HP
representative:
•
The event log
•
The MR PDU store and log
•
The entry manager message queue file
•
The DSAP output
•
Information about the application and the messages it processes
•
VPROC of the library module and GIP
Effects on the System
There is minimal effect on the remainder of the subsystem when gateway
interconnection problems occur.
Recovery Checklist
Consider the following items if problems arise when trying to establish a gateway
connection or during the operation of a gateway.
•
GATEWAY, APPL (gateway), and GI group object definitions
•
START or RUN commands for required processes, including entry and wait
managers
•
Swap space requested by GPI application, and available space on swap volumes
•
Message sizes and structures used by the application
LO and RS Process Interface Problems
Although the user interfaces for the LO and RS processes are not the same, the
internal operation is similar, and therefore the approach to troubleshooting is similar.
The problem situation discussed in this subsection is an RS group bind failure. A
problem involving an LO group could be approached in the same way.
Problem Description
The RS process communicates, through the OSI/AS TAPS process, by using a remote
user agent (RUA). The RUA is on a different platform, such as a PC running DOS or a
workstation running UNIX.
