Routing Support for O/R Names
Containing Teletex Attributes
The teletex character set is an extended alphabet for use in international text
communication. In addition to the standard ASCII character set, the teletex character
set includes accents and umlauts (diacritical marks) applied to Latin characters, as well
as a number of special alphabetical combinations such as IJ ligatures.
OSI/MHS can route MPDUs (messages, probes, and reports) containing teletex O/R
name attributes and can match local MS APPL names against teletex O/R names.
The teletex O/R name attributes supported are:
teletex-common-name
teletex-organization-name
teletex-personal-name
teletex-organizational-unit-names
teletex-domain-defined-attributes
It is important to understand that teletex support applies only to the O/R name
attributes associated with MPDUs. You cannot use teletex O/R attributes to configure
OSI/MHS objects, such as ROUTE, APPL, or DLIST objects.
How an MTA Routes an MPDU Containing
Teletex Attributes
An incoming MPDU can contain O/R name attributes in printable form, teletex form, or
both.
•
If an O/R name attribute is present in printable form, OSI/MHS uses that attribute
for routing.
•
If an O/R name attribute is present in teletex form but not in printable form,
OSI/MHS converts the teletex string to a printable string by performing the
character conversions shown in Table F-1. Teletex characters that have defined
equivalents are converted; all others are ignored.
OSI/MHS then stores the converted printable strings in its internal records and
bases its routing decisions on them, in the same way that it would normally use
conventional printable strings. The original, unconverted teletex O/R attributes are
routed with the MPDU.
It is the recipient’s responsibility to handle the O/R address attributes properly.
