Communication From Remote UAs to OSI/MHS
The following steps describe a sample message flow from a remote UA to a single MS
user on OSI/MHS:
1. The UA attempts to bind to OSI/MHS by requesting an association with OSI/MHS.
2. OSI/MHS responds positively to that association request if all criteria for
connection establishment are satisfied. The RS group must be previously
configured to listen on the incoming OSI address. Also, an OSI/MHS APPL object
for the originator/recipient must have been previously configured for the originator
to log on and for the recipient to receive messages in the message store.
3. After an association has been established, the UA can invoke any MS operations
supported by OSI/MHS through the services provided for by the RS process, such
as LIST and FETCH.
4. If all the criteria for successful submission are met, the message is submitted to an
MR group for routing to the intended recipient. The MR process determines that
the recipient is a local MS user and the message is stored in the mailbox for that
user.
