APPL Objects
The wild-card characters are:
•
The question mark (?), which is used as a placeholder for a single unspecified
character
•
The asterisk (
∗
), which is used as a placeholder for zero or more unspecified
characters
For example, to issue a command to all groups within a class, replace the group
qualifier with an asterisk. Thus the partial name $ZMHS.#RS.
∗
would apply to all the
RS groups (#RS is the class qualifier).
The following subsections explain how you use each of the object types to set up and
run your OSI/MHS subsystem.
APPL Objects
An APPL object represents a single user or set of users accessing the OSI/MHS
subsystem through either a message store or a gateway. You specify the type of APPL
as the value of the attribute ACCESS-TYPE: a message store APPL object has an
access type of MS, and a gateway APPL object has an access type of GW.
APPL object attributes include
•
The O/R name of the user or set of users.
•
The content and encoded information types that the user or users can receive.
•
The sizes, priorities, and types of message that the user or users can receive or
submit.
•
In the case of message-store users, the set of message elements on the basis of
which the user or users will retrieve or filter stored messages. (These subscribed
attributes influence how messages for the user or users are stored in the MS
database.)
Gateway APPL Object
A gateway APPL object type defines a user or set of users whose access to OSI/MHS
is through the Transfer X400 gateway or a general user (GPI) gateway.
Using the gateway APPL object type, you can:
•
Add, delete, and alter the gateway APPL object
•
Start and stop the gateway APPL object
•
Find out the attribute values and operational status of the gateway APPL object
Note. OSI/MHS APPL objects are not the same as OSI/AS APPL objects.
