OSI/MHS Event and Accounting Messages
For detailed descriptions of the SCF interactive commands listed in Table 1-2, see the
OSI/MHS SCF Reference Manual.
Section 5, “Commands and Responses," describes in detail the SPI-format programmatic
commands that management applications can direct to the OSI/MHS subsystem, and the
SPI-format responses that OSI/MHS returns.
OSI/MHS Event and Accounting Messages
OSI/MHS subsystem processes generate event messages when they detect significant
events, such as a trap caused by a hardware or software error, a failure to establish
communication with OSI/AS, a management counter reaching a threshold, or accounting
events that are also designed to enable message tracking. The subsystem processes send
these event messages, in SPI format, to the Event Management Service (EMS), which
makes them available to management applications upon request.
Section 6, Event Messages
, describes in detail the contents of the event messages and
the accounting messages that the MHS manager issues. For descriptions of event
messages that OSI/AS processes issue, refer to the OSI/AS Management Programming
Manual.
Event and accounting messages generated by OSI/MHS processes can be displayed for
system operators using an EMS printing distributor or the ViewPoint console
application. For information about the use of EMS printing distributors, see the
EMS Manual. For general information about ViewPoint, see the ViewPoint Manual.
