MS Password Server Programmatic Interface
EMS Events
The EMS events that can be generated if errors occur are listed in Table 7-3.
MS Password Server Programmatic Interface
Both the MHS manager and MS processes use the MS password server programmatic
interface to communicate with a Password Server, as shown in Figure 7-2. Whether or
not the password server is used is controlled on a per-MS-group basis. If the password
server is configured for an MS group, then it applies to all the APPL objects in that
group.
Table 7-2. MRP Error-Handling Actions
If the MRP fails to communicate
with the password server or receives
an error response when issuing a
ZMHS-VAL-PASSW- Then...
REQUEST command No attempt is made to establish an outgoing
association to this adjacent MTA.
MTA-INDICATION command The incoming association is rejected with the error
authentication failure.
MTA-RESPONSE command The incoming association is rejected with the error
authentication failure.
CONFIRM command The association is aborted.
Table 7-3. OSI/MHS Event Messages, MTA Password Server Interface
Event
Number
Symbolic Name
(ZMHS-EVT-) Description
12 IO-ERR If the MRP fails to communicate with the password
server for any reason, this event is generated specifying
the name of the password server process.
19 INVALID-PASSWORD If the MRP receives an error response from the
password server for a ZMHS-VAL-PASSW-MTA-
INDICATION or a ZMHS-VAL-PASSW-MTA-
CONFIRM command, then this event is generated,
specifying the name of the MTA object.
32 NO-MTA-PW-SVR If no password server process has been configured, but
the MTA object has been configured to use a password
server, then this event is generated, whenever an
attempt is made to establish an association with that
MTA.
33 MTA-PW-SVR-ERR If the MRP receives an error response from the
password server for a ZMHS-VAL-PASSW-MTA-
REQUEST or ZMHS-VAL-PASSW-MTA-RESPONSE
command, then this event is generated.
