Master Password Server
MHS Manager Process Error-Handling Actions
The MHS manager process issues the ZMHS-VAL-PASSW-MS-ADD, ZMHS-VAL-
PASSW-MS-ALTER, and ZMHS-VAL-PASSW-MS-DELETE commands to the
password server when an MS APPL object is added, altered, or deleted the MS group
has the use of the MS password server configured. If there are no problems
communicating with the MS password server and no error responses are returned by the
server, the ADD, ALTER, or DELETE APPL command complete normally.
The EMS events that can be generated if errors occur are listed in Table 7-8
.
Master Password Server
The Master Password Server (MPS) serves two main purposes:
•
It lets you define a master user, who has access to the mailboxes of other users. You
can have a single master user for all mailboxes, or you can assign different master
users to different sets of mailboxes. The master user can perform any operation that
the owner of the mailbox would be permitted to perform, except to use a Register-
MS request to change the owner's password.

Register-MS
Event
Number
Symbolic Name
(ZMHS-EVT-) Description
12 IO-ERR If the MS process cannot communicate with the
password server process, then this event is generated,
specifying the name of the password server process,
and the association is aborted.
19 INVALID-PASSWORD If an error response is received back from the password
server, then this event is generated and a register-MS
error is returned to the MS APPL object.

Manager Process
Event
Number
Symbolic Name
(ZMHS-EVT-) Description
12 IO-ERR If the MHS manager process cannot communicate with the
password server process, then this event is generated,
specifying the name of the password server process. The
attempt to add, alter, or delete the APPL object is aborted and
an error response (ZCOM-ERR-FS-ERR) is returned to the
requester.
If an error response is received from the password server,
then the attempt to add, alter, or delete the APPL object is
aborted and an error response (ZCOM-ERR-MS-PW-SVR-
ERR) is returned to the requester.
