Using the Master Password Server
authorization database and the mode—the MPS process writes a warning
message to its output file and continues to use the old parameters.
MPS-MASTER-APPL
specifies the SCF APPL name of the master user. This parameter is optional. If the
configuration database already exists (because another MPS process created it), the
new MPS process supports the master user defined in the database. If you specify a
different master user, the MPS writes a warning message to the output file and
ignores the new parameter unless it is in RECONFIGURE mode.
You do not have to define a master user. If no master user is defined, the MPS
process will perform its other validation functions.
MPS-ALLOW-BINDS
has a value of ON or OFF. ON permits the master user to Bind under its own APPL
name. OFF prevents the master user from Binding under its own APPL name. The
default value is ON. You might want to specify OFF to prevent unauthorized
changes to the master password. This parameter is optional.
If the configuration database already exists (because another MPS process created
it), the new MPS process uses the value defined in the database. If you specify a
different value, the MPS writes a warning message to the output file and ignores the
new parameter unless it is in RECONFIGURE mode.
MPS-ALLOW-REG
has a value of ON or OFF. ON (the default) permits the master user to perform
Register-MS operations under its own APPL name. OFF prevents the master user
from performing Register-MS operations under its own APPL name. You might
want to specify OFF to prevent unauthorized changes to the master password.
This parameter is optional. If the configuration database already exists (because
another MPS process created it), the new MPS process uses the value defined in the
database. If you specify a different value, the MPS writes a warning message to the
output file and ignores the new parameter unless it is in RECONFIGURE mode.
MPS-AUDIT
has a value of ON or OFF. ON instructs the MPS processes to write an audit trail.
OFF disables production of an audit trail. The default value is OFF. If you specify
ON, you must also specify a value for the next parameter, MPS-AUDIT-FILE.
This parameter is optional. If the configuration database already exists (because
another MPS process created it), the new MPS process uses the value defined in the
database unless it is in RECONFIGURE or ISOLATE mode. If you specify a
different value for a process in NORMAL or POPULATE mode, the MPS writes a
warning message to the output file and ignores the new parameter.
