Integrating a Compaq Transfer Application With an

Integrating a Compaq Transfer Application With
an X.400 Network
Users and clients of the Compaq Transfer delivery system can communicate with users
and applications across an X.400 network through OSI/MHS.
What You Need to Do
To integrate a Compaq Transfer application, such as electronic mail, with an X.400
network, you use a component called the Compaq Transfer X400 gateway, illustrated in
Figure 1-5. The gateway consists of two major processes: an importer to move X.400
messages into the Transfer environment, and an exporter to move messages from the
Transfer environment to the X.400 network. The gateway uses the services of another
component called the queue manager, which manages the message flow between
Transfer and OSI/MHS. (The Transfer gateway sends and receives messages as a 1984
MTA but cannot relay messages between MTAs.)
