Building Your Message Handling System

What You Need to Do
You do not need to do custom programming to integrate Compaq PS Mail with your
network. If you have a Transfer system with correspondents already defined and an
X.400 network with recipients defined on their respective systems, you need only set up
an OSI/MHS environment and add the X.400 gateway to your Transfer configuration.
Then, a user who wishes to send a message to an X.400 recipient can specify the name
of the recipient to PS Mail. (Some administrators define X.400 recipient names in
advance as distribution lists, so that other users will not have to enter X.400 names.)
Your own applications require only very minor changes to send and receive X.400
messages; alternatively, you can use special features of the Transfer programming
interface to take advantage of a large set of X.400 options.
