Examples
For example, the following error can be returned by the Compaq OSI/MHS subsystem
and is specific to the Compaq OSI/MHS subsystem—no other subsystem generates this
same error number and text. Cause and recovery information for this error is given in

, of this manual. Note that the error number
is a positive number.
In contrast, the following error can also be returned by the Compaq OSI/MHS
subsystem, but the error number and text is common to all subsystems using SCF. In
other words, many other subsystems might use this same -00003 error number and text.
Additional information on this error is given in the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF)
Reference Manual. Note that the error number is a negative number.
Summary States Supported by OSI/MHS
OSI/MHS objects can have different operational states, such as STOPPED or
STARTED. The exact sequence of states an object goes through varies from object to
object.
Table 1-3 lists the states supported by OSI/MHS.
