ADD SU Command
Commands and Responses
5–26 056786 Tandem Computers Incorporated
When you add a subdevice and do not specify a value for one of these
attributes, that attribute is added with the corresponding ALTER SERVICE
attribute value.
When you add a subdevice and do specify a value for one of these attributes,
that value overrides the corresponding ALTER SERVICE attribute value.
Once a subdevice is added, changing the corresponding ALTER SERVICE
attributes has no effect on the existing subdevice.
If the ZNETTYPE attribute is specified in the ADD SU command, values for the
ZCLASS and ZALT-CLASS tokens are selected based on the values of ZNETTYPE
and ZMULTIPLEX instead of assuming the values of the ZCLASS and
ZALT-CLASS tokens of the SERVICE object. If ZCLASS is also specified in the
ADD SU command, its value overrides the selection based on ZNETTYPE.
The default values of the timers for transport class 4 are based on the LAN
environment. These values may be too small for wide area networks such as X.25.
The combination of the SU attributes ZNSP-DEV, ZCLASS, ZX25DESTADDR,
ZIP-X25-SNDCF, ZIP-NULL-LAYER, ZLOC-NSAP, ZRMT-NSAP, ZLAN-LOC-
SNPA, and ZLAN-RMT-SNPA and the Layer 3 SERVICE attribute ZESIS-ENABLE
determines the protocol stack below the Transport Layer. Tables 5-4 and 5-5 show
how to select the correct combination of attributes to obtain the desired protocol.
