The following list describes each of the manuals shown in Figure i, Related Manuals:

Introduction to Networking and Data Communications for Himalaya S-Series 
Servers. This manual provides an overview of Compaq networking and data 
communications products. 
•
Introduction to Distributed Systems Management (DSM). This manual introduces 
the products and components collectively known as Distributed Systems 
Management. The manual also discusses subsystem enhancements to support DSM.
•
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) Reference Manual. This manual describes the 
operation of SCF and tells system and network managers how to use SCF to 
configure, control, and inquire about supported data communications subsystems.
The following manuals contain information about event and problem management:
•
The PTrace Reference Manual tells system and network managers how to display 
trace files created by the SCF TRACE command. It provides information that 
applies to all subsystems; information specific to OSI/TS is provided in this manual.

The EMS Manual tells system and network managers how to write event-message 
filters to select messages of particular interest and distribute them to various 
destinations.
•
The Operator Messages Manual describes system messages and provides an 
explanation of the cause, a discussion of the effect on the system, and suggestions 
for corrective action. 
•
The ViewPoint Manual describes a multifunction operations console application that 
allows the management of a network of systems. The manual describes how to 
install, configure, and start ViewPoint for custom applications.
These manuals provide information on underlying OSI subsystems:
•
The OSI/AS Configuration and Management Manual describes how to install, 
configure, and manage OSI/Application Services (OSI). The manual also includes 
information on monitoring and adjusting OSI/AS to optimize performance, and on 
diagnosing and fixing problems.
•
The TLAM Configuration and Management Manual tells system and network 
managers how to install and manage local area networks (LANs) that are connected 
to Tandem NonStop systems by way of the Multilan and TLAM software. This 
manual is necessary only if you use LAN-based communications.
•
The PAM Configuration and Management Manual tells system and network 
managers how to install and manage local area networks (LANs) that are connected 
to Compaq NonStop systems by way of the Port Access Method (PAM) software. 
This manual is necessary only if you use LAN-based communications on a S-series 
system running G-series software of release G06 or later.
•
Introduction to Compaq X.25 Capabilities describes the use of wide area networks 
(WANs) on X.25 packet-switched networks connected to Compaq NonStop systems 
by way of the X25AM product, including the basic installation and management 
process for X25AM. This manual is necessary only if you use X.25-based 
communications.
