L4 State Machine
file-name
is the name of the statetable file:
$volume.subvolume.ZOS4SMT
When you use the PTrace FROM command, PTrace automatically invokes the
STATETABLES command. The state-machine file name that PTrace looks for is
$SYSTEM.SYSnnn.ZOS4SMT. If you decide to use a state-machine file name in a
different form, you can use the STATETABLES command to identify it. See the PTrace
Reference Manual for more information about the FROM command.
Note that the statetable file is version-dependent. Use of an unmatched statetable file
(not the same version as the TSP process being traced) may cause misleading state,
event or action descriptions to be displayed.
This information is primarily for use by Compaq analysts in troubleshooting the
Compaq OSI/TS software.

The OSI/TS Configuration and Management Manual provides examples of some of the
OSI/TS trace record displays that are most important in troubleshooting.
The formatted trace files that you will create may not appear exactly as documented in
this manual.
Trace records provide a mix of internal and user information and will reflect your
network configuration and the type of applications you are running.
Trace records are used for product development and maintenance as well as for tracking
down protocol problems in user applications.
