Considerations for the ALTER Command
Note that these values are based on the CCITT X.25 recommendations for 1980 and
1984.
X25TRANSITDELAY
specifies the transit delay in the facility field of a call-request packet. This attribute
is used only for X.25 networks.
RESET returns this attribute to the #L3 SERVICE X25TRANSITDELAY value.
Value: 0.000 through 65.530 (0 through 65.53 seconds)
Default: Defaults to the #L3 SERVICE X25TRANSITDELAY value.
Considerations for the ALTER Command
The considerations contain information about command use that should be read before
studying the command syntax in too much detail.
All Objects
•
TSP checks the ranges of the attribute values but does not check the value of one
attribute against another. The values that are actually used are determined at
connection-establishment time. Use the STATUS command to see the attribute
values used during a connection.
•
If transport connections have ever been established or attempted, which can be
verified by inspecting the content of the routing table (issuing the INFO ROUTE
command), all subdevices should be aborted before the value of the attribute
ESISENABLE is altered. Failure to do this may cause existing connections to be
broken and new connection attempts to fail.
•
The following information applies to the Layer 3 and Layer 4 attributes that set
threshold values for IP counters and Network Layer counters:
•
An EMS event message is generated whenever a counter value is nonzero and
dividing the counter value by the threshold value leaves a remainder of zero.
•
Setting a low value to these attributes could result in many EMS event messages
being generated if the condition continues for a long time. In this case, raising the
threshold value will decrease the amount of event messages.
•
The LIKE option, if used, must be entered before any attribute-specs.
