Examples of the ALTER Command
PROCESS Object
A PROCESS object must be in the SUSPENDED state before its attributes can be
altered.
SERVICE Object
For the ALTER SERVICE #L4 (and ALTER SU) commands, the transport protocol
class and alternate transport protocol class are determined by the ALTCLASS,
CLASS, MULTIPLEX, and NETTYPE attributes. The following table defines the
valid combinations of values for these attributes:
SU Object
An SU object must be in the STOPPED state before its attributes can be altered.
The combination of the SU attributes NSPDEVICE, CLASS, X25DESTADDR,
IPX25SNDCF, IPNULLLAYER, LOCALNSAP, REMOTENSAP,
LANLOCALSNPA, and LANREMOTESNPA and the SERVICE #L3 attribute
ESISENABLE determines the protocol stack below the Transport Layer. See Table
2-4 “Protocol Selection for X.25 Wide Area Networks” and Table 2-5 “Protocol
Selection for Local Area Networks” in the considerations for the ADD command,
which show how to select the correct combination of attributes to obtain the desired
protocol.
The transport protocol class and alternate transport protocol class are determined by
the ALTCLASS, CLASS, MULTIPLEX, and NETTYPE attributes. See the
SERVICE Object discussion above.
