OSM Migration Check List
OSM Migration Check List
This section present a step-by-step check list to help you migrate from TSM to using
OSM software to manage your HP NonStop S-series servers. Print the 8 page check
list for use on site, or use online to take advantage of links to more information (mostly
either within the OSM Migration and Configuration Guide or to other books within NTL).
Preparing for OSM Migration
These requirements and considerations should be planned for well before you plan to
migrate, to ensure that you have all the required/optimum hardware, software, and
information needed for a smooth migration to OSM.
OSM Requirements and Considerations
The system console meets the minimum hardware and operating system
requirements described in System Console Requirements.
* While OSM can run on Windows 2000, your operational needs may make a
console upgrade necessary or advisable. Also, some optional console products
that you might want to take advantage of, such as HP Systems Insight Manager
(SIM) and HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) are not supported on
Windows 2000 (or by TSM).
Optional: If you are upgrading to a new system console:
Migrate your TSM system list
If your current TSM console is used to manage several NonStop systems, this
optional step can save you time. This process involves copying the TSM
system list from your old console and moving it to the new console. OSM
leverages your TSM system list, converting it to an OSM system list (used by
the OSM Low-Level Link and OSM Notification Director) and automatically
creating bookmarks for use in establishing OSM Service Connection and OSM
Event Viewer sessions. For instructions, see Migrating Your TSM Registry
Settings.
The system console has Internet Explorer 6.0 (required for OSM Service
Connection and OSM Event Viewer).
The system console has OutsideView 7.1 (needed for OSM Low-Level Link
functionality).
The NonStop server is running G06.10 or later. (OSM is supported only on G06.10
and later. If migration is needed or desired, see RVU Migration.)
Note. These, along with OSM and other console-based software, are pre-loaded on new
system consoles or can be installed from the NonStop System Console (NSC) Installer
CD. Depending on your scenario, you might also need to order an NSC Installer CD to get
the console-based software or recommended upgrades (see Installing and Configuring
OSM on the System Console).
