Recommended SPR for Improved OSM Performance
During periods of peak processor usage, OSM server performance is significantly
better if the NSK CRE/RTL (T1269) product is installed on the system rather than the
Native CRE/RTL (T8431) product. This is because of more efficient heap management
in T1269. T1269 is available on G06.15 and later SUTs. To learn more about migrating
to T1269, see Support Note S02001, “TNS/R CRE Heap Manager Migration
Considerations.”
For more information on OSM performance, including workarounds to consider if
T1269 is not feasible for your environment, refer to Support Note S03133A, “OSM
Performance Considerations.”
Upgrading the Server Software
To upgrade the server software required to run OSM, refer to these manuals:
•
G06.xx Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
•
DSM/SCM User's Guide
Use your currently installed TSM client and server software to perform any needed
firmware updates, system loads, or other necessary release version update (RVU)
tasks. After all RVU upgrade tasks have been completed and all OSM system and
client software has been installed and is operating properly, use OSM to perform
upgrade tasks when installing other RVUs or software product revisions (SPRs). For
information on using OSM for upgrading your system to a new RVU, refer to the
G06.xx Software Installation and Upgrade Guide.
Preparing the Hardware and LAN Environment
Installing system hardware and planning your network configuration are done much
like they were for TSM. While most OSM functionality should be used only on a
dedicated service LAN, some components can be used on a nondedicated operations
LAN. To use OSM on a nondedicated operations LAN, see Configuring Additional
TCP/IP Processes for OSM Connectivity on page 3-3.

I/O Adapter Module enclosures, see:

install, cable, and start your NonStop S-series server, NonStop system console,
and external system devices.

configure your NonStop S-series servers, operational environment, hardware and
software configurations, and ServerNet system area network (ServerNet SAN).
