HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM)
HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM)
HP SIM 5.0 supports the NonStop platform via Web-Based Enterprise Management
(WBEM) provided by OSM. HP SIM is capable of discovering NonStop systems,
displaying and forwarding alarms generated by OSM, and collecting NonStop system
and device data. Support Note S05135 describes the type of NonStop environments in
which HP SIM might provide added value.
To use HP SIM in conjunction with OSM to monitor NonStop systems:
•
The system console on which the HP SIM client is installed must be model S7X-
NSC6, S7X-NSC6NM, or later (running Microsoft Windows XP Professional) or
HP-approved rackmount server (running Windows 2003 Server operating system).
•
The HP SIM 5.0 client is installed from NonStop System Console Installer CD,
Update 7 or later (or can be downloaded from HP).
Shipped with the installer CD are the HP Systems Insight Manager 5.0 Installation
and User Guide (for basic installation instructions) and the NonStop System
Console Installer Guide (for NonStop-specific details).
•
SNMP must be installed on the system console, as described in the NonStop
System Console Installer Guide.
•
You must have OSM Notification Director (ND) version T0632AAN or later, which
supports the requisite Sockets Layer (SSL).
•
RemoteProxy Service must be running on the console. It is installed along with the
OSM Notification Director and should be started automatically when the ND is
started. The OSM Notification Director online help describes how to verify this.
•
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) must be enabled in your OSMCONF file (see
Enabling Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) on page 3-6).
HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE)
HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) is web-based remote monitoring tool that
utilizes an internet connection (instead of modem) to forward Incident Reports from the
OSM Notification Director to the GCSC to help identify and prevent potential critical
problems.
